Concrete Raising
is a process that uses a cementitious slurry to raise slabs and
fill voids beneath them. This process of raising concrete with
concrete results in a repair that is impervious to water and
therefore a more permanent fix. The cementitious slurry is pumped
under pressure into small holes drilled though concrete slabs.
The “slurry” displaces
air pockets, water or water saturated materials, fills all
void areas under the slab, raises the slab, and leaves a firm
permanent subgrade.
How is Concrete
Raising different from “mudjacking”?
“Mudjacking”,
as the name implies, utilizes a mixture of topsoil, water and
admixtures which is hydraulically pumped into a hole drilled
in a slab of sunken concrete. In as much as the material being
used to raise the slab is the same material that is under the
slab, erosion over time typically does not result in a long-term
fix. Caution: Some mudjackers throw a minimal amount of cement
in their mixture and call their process concrete raising.
Buyer Beware!!
What are the advantages of Concrete Raising
over replacement?
IMMEDIATE ACCESS • Walk
on raised concrete immediately • Drive on it in
4 hours
COST-EFFECTIVE • Often
1/3 to 1/2 the cost of replacement
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY • No
landfill waste created
QUICK • No
concrete to remove and haul away • No grading • No
forms to build and tear down • Minimal curing time.
NO RE-LANDSCAPING • No
costly replacement of grass, flowers, shrubs or trees
